Media Interchange was founded in 1996 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation under the name of Science Interchange. Over the years we have broadened our reach and in 2005 we changed our name to Media Interchange. Our mission statement reads:
The specific and primary purposes of Media Interchange are:
(a) To create a digital communications infrastructure for education, arts, governmental, science and environmental non-profit organizations.
(b) To improve the quality and distribution of digital media content related to education, arts, government, science and the environment.
(c) To train others to improve their competency in delivering this information and assist them in developing effective methods of distribution.
(d) To explore and evaluate new ideas and techniques regarding the use of digital media.
(e) To expand access to knowledge about media creation and distribution.
